Cesare Hassan, MD, PhD

Dr. Cesare Hassan, MD, PhD completed his medical degree in 1994, followed by specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at ‘Sapienza University’ in Rome in 1998. His professional endeavors have predominantly revolved around advancing colorectal cancer screening methods, with a keen emphasis on clinical validation, cost-effectiveness, and decision-making. Additionally, he has been actively involved in research aimed at preventing upper GI-cancer, encompassing both endoscopic and medical interventions for pre-malignant gastric conditions and Barrett’s esophagus.

Dr. Hassan has an extensive publication record, with over 700 peer-reviewed articles to his credit, and is frequently sought after to share his insights at prestigious national and international conferences. Presently, he serves as the President Elect of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, having previously chaired the Guideline Committee. Moreover, he holds the position of Full Professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University in Milan, Italy. His current research endeavors are centered on harnessing Artificial Intelligence to enhance the detection, characterization, and quality improvement.
